Nothing Is What It Seems

Short film commissioned by Told by an Idiot, to mark their production of The Cat and the Canary at Chichester Festival Theatre.

‘I was given the brief of creating a comedy-horror film inspired by Angela Carter’s Werewolf. We had 2 and a half days to devise it and film it at the beautiful Burnley Youth Theatre site. Because of the short time, I came up with the idea of a police detective drama exploring what happened when avant-garde theatre director arrived to rehearse his new version of Little Red Riding Hood. Spoiler – it ends very gruesomely! When we got in the room, we improvised with the young people around these ideas and in the evening, I structured our ideas into a storyboard for filming. And then we all pulled together to get it filmed! We had so much fun and the end result is something we’re all super proud of.’
